Duty statements
- Duty statements list the responsibilities for each position or kind of position.
- Staff shall normally be responsible to their immediate superior according to the organizational diagram.
- One person may hold more than one position.
- Some positions may be held in abeyance while they are not needed. When one is necessary, its duties may be given to another officeholder.
General responsibilities of all staff
- Understand and work within the ethos of ACAS and one's college
- Establish and maintain good teamwork
- Act according to current professional standards for training
- Identify and comply with all relevant practices, policies, and legislation
- Report and maintain accountability to their immediate superior
- Keep up to date on changes in practices, policies, and legislation
- Develop performance criteria for oneself and develop skills and attitudes for excellent performance
- Provide any reasonable extra advice, help and support to students in difficulty
- Make evaluations and reports as required
- Maintain equipment in good and safe working order
- Return any ACAS records to the member college or to ACAS upon ceasing to be an ACAS staff member, or destroy them if so directed.
Centre staff
[Job descriptions of the Principal and Academic Dean are decided by the Board.]
Bookkeeper
- Maintain all financial books to auditor-ready stage
- Comply with any relevant policies
- Keep up-to-date procedures
- Financial reporting to the Treasurer and to the Board
- All matters or taxation, banking, and superannuation.
Senior staff: member college
Principal
- Oversee college activities:
- Provide leadership and vision for the college.
- Generally responsible that college programs run well.
- Keep structures and programs under review and in continual improvement.
- Approve marketing material according to guidelines.
- Manage staff recruitment, induction, and oversight.
- Ensure that all college staff understand and comply with all relevant ACAS policies.
- Oversee duty of care
- Oversee pastoral care of staff and students.
- Maintain key relationships:
- Maintain working relationship with ACAS Centre
- Maintain working relationship with the Deputy Principal and Administrator
- Develop and maintain the college's strategic relationships with other organizations, in cooperation with ACAS Centre.
- Maintain working relationship with all college staff and students.
Administrator
- Oversee routine activities:
- Events.
- Schedules.
- Routine correspondence (when not handled by the member college Principal).
- Finances (in conjunction with the member college Principal).
- Any of the Academic Dean’s responsibilities for the college as relevant.
- Maintain key relationships:
- Relate closely to the college Principal
- Maintain working relationship with all college staff and students, and with ACAS Centre
- Represent the college on administrative issues in conjunction with the Principal
- Maintain compliance with the SNR standards
Instructors
- Plan, teach and assess units in one's specialist area, with possible interest in other areas
- Provide the Centre with updated records of qualifications and relevant experience
- Conduct industry consultations relevant for courses/units taught
- Comply with the ACAS code of conduct
- Maintain professional standards of appearance, punctuality and behavior
- Teach all classes as scheduled, or organize an acceptable substitute
- Develop any instructional materials necessary for assigned units
- Do structured professional development
- Supervise independent study contracts and research projects as requested.
Overseas seconded staff
- Overseas seconded personnel will do any staff induction required by the Centre.
- They will maintain a separate job description that is appropriate to their role on location, and consistent with the objects of ACAS.
- ACAS will not incur liability for any reason whatsoever on their behalf or through their activities.
- The Principal or Academic Dean may issue supporting letters for the above provisions.
