How you will be assessed
This unit will be assessed by:
- Walkaround tour of your workplace
- Supervisor observation of your contribution in team meetings
- Review of your workplan and your workplace documents
- Interview based on the requirements below.
- You will be assessed at work in your real workplace, with normal equipment and resources. Your supervisor will be asked for a reference based on the listed skills done on the job over a period of time.
Interview
- Give your assessor a walkaround tour of your workplace, and describe your organization, its goals, and what you do. Your assessor may ask any relevant questions in order to understand what you do. As you go, explain:
- The procedures and policies for how you do things
- What plan your workplace has to develop or change
- According to legislation:
- What are your anti-discrimination responsibilities?
- What are your privacy responsibilities?
- What are your OHS responsibilities?
- What ethical principles affect your work?
- Are you subject to a particular code of practice in your work? If so, please describe it.

Detailed requirements
1. Organise your work schedule
- With your supervisor’s help, negotiate your work goals and plans
- Understand of the relationship between your individual work goals and plans, and your cafe’s goals and plans
- Plan to get your work done on time in order of priority
2. Complete your tasks
- Finish your work on time, and according to your cafe’s requirements and instructions
- If you need help getting your work done, ask your colleagues for help in an effective way (e.g. clear, timely, polite)
- Notice any factors that affect how you will do your work done (e.g. changes in routines, unexpected events, etc.) and respond appropriately
- Use any business technology efficiently and effectively to get your work done
- Tell your supervisor or colleagues how you work is progressing (as required)
3. Review your work performance
- Ask your supervisors or colleagues for feedback on how well you are working
- Monitor your work and make adjustments:
- according to the feedback you get from your supervisor
- by comparing what you do with established team and organisational standards
- Identify things that you could improve on and plan how you will do so in liaison with colleagues
4. Other skills
- Use written and oral information about workplace requirements
- Arrange work priorities and arrangements
- Solve routine problems
- Select and use technology appropriate for a task.
Note: It is essential that you can:
- Organize and complete you own work activities
- Ask clients, colleagues and supervisors for feedback, and then act on it
- Use available business technology appropriate to the task, under direct instruction
