1. Define the project
- Access project scope and other relevant documentation
- Define project stakeholders
- Ask your delegating authority to clarify issues related to project and project parameters
- Identify limits of your responsibility
- Identify your reporting requirements
- Clarify the relationship of project to other projects and to your organisation's objectives
- Determine and access available resources to do the project
2. Develop project plan
- Develop a project plan in line with the project parameters
- Identify appropriate project management tools and access them
- Develop a risk management plan for the project. It needs to include Work Health and Safety risks.
- Develop a budget for the project and get it approved
- Consult your team members and consider their views in planning the project
- Finalise the project plan and get any necessary approvals so that you can start the project according to the written plan
