Childrens and Community Services Act 2004 (WA)
When the permissibility of physical restraint in AOD facilities was questioned, this Act also came up because it is the basis for the physical restraint guidelines in juvenile detention centres. Their rules are different from those in prisons.
One of the main purposes of the Act is to protect the child from harm. See 8 (1) (a), 9 (c).
You meet the requirements of this Act if you restrain a minor in such a way that it protects them from harm.
