The Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act (WA) makes provision for:
- the compensation of workers who suffer an injury, certain dependants of workers who died from the injury
- the management of workers’ injuries in a way the they can return to work (including specialized retraining programs for certain injured workers;
- to promote safety measures for preventing or minimizing injuries; and
- resolving disputes between parties involved in workers’ compensation.
The Workers’ Compensation Code of Practice (Injury Management) 2005 (issued under the (Workers’ Compensation Reform Act 2004) requires every employer to have a policy on getting injured workers back to work, and to make the policy available to workers. (See policy)
