This unit is about determining individual and team development needs and developing the team.

You will be assessed through:


 

Practical

You will be assessed in the workplace as a safe environment and will need access to:

  1. office equipment and resources.
  2. learning and development plans, policies and procedures.
  3. case studies and, where available, real situations.
  4. interaction with others.

You need to show that you have done the following:

  1. Collect feedback on team and individual performance.
  2. Give and receive feedback from team members to encourage them to participate in the team and make it more effective.
  3. Collaboratively develop learning plans to match skill needs of individuals and groups.
  4. Give mentoring and coaching to teams and individuals.
  5. Monitor and review workplace learning.
  6. Perform consistently in typical activities in this field of competency.

  2. Outline your organization’s policies, plans and procedures for developing teams.
  3. Identify career paths and competency standards relevant to the industry.

Detailed requirements

1. Determine development needs and goals.

  1. Identify your organisation’s skill requirements (e.g. industry standards, requirements of the job or the operational plan.)
  2. Systematically identify learning and development needs according to your organisation’s requirements.
  3. Identify learning and development program goals and objectives, and check that they match the specific knowledge and skill requirements of industry competency standards.
  4. As a team, collaboratively develop a learning plan to meet the training and development needs of individuals and the group. Get their agreement and implement it.
  5. Encourage individuals to evaluate their own performance and to identify areas for improvement.
  6. Identify suitable sources of feedback on team members’ performance.
  7. Collect feedback on team members’ performance and compare it with the team’s learning goals and needs.

 

2. Develop individuals and teams.

  1. Systematically identify and implement learning opportunities for others.
  2. Check that that they way it wil be provided (learning delivery methods) are appropriate to the goals, the learning style of participants, and available equipment and resources.
  3. Give learning opportunities in the workplace so that individuals and the team can achieve competencies.
    1. You can give coaching and mentoring or ensure that someone else does it.
    2. Use various activities and support materials that suite what people are aupposed to be learning.
  4. Identify and approve resources and time lines required for learning activities according to your organization’s requirements.

 

3. Monitor and evaluate workplace learning.

  1. Use feedback from individuals or teams to identify and implement improvements in future learning arrangements.
  2. Assess and record outcomes and performance of individuals/teams. Use it to seeh how effective the program was and how much extra support team members need.
  3. Negotiate modifications to learning plans to make learning more efficient and effective.
  4. Document and maintain records and reports of competency according to your organization’s requirements.
