This unit is about monitoring and getting feedback on your own work performance and accessing opportunities for professional development. It applies to individuals who design their own work schedules and work plans and establish priorities for their work.

You will be assessed through:


 

Practical

You will be assessed in the workplace as a safe environment and will need access to:

  1. workplace documentation including policies and procedures, and benchmarks for work group productivity and performance.
  2. workplace equipment and resources.
  3. case studies and, where possible, real situations.
  4. interaction with others.

 

Interview/assignment questions

  1. Explain how business technology applications can be used to schedule tasks and plan work.
  2. Explain techniques to prepare personal plans and establish priorities.
  3. Identify methods to identify and prioritize personal learning needs.
  4. Outline a range of professional development options.
  5. Explain methods to elicit, analyze and interpret feedback.
  6. Explain in detail of methods that can be used to evaluate your own performance.

Note: Your assessor may also ask you a variety of what if questions.


 

Detailed requirements

Perform consistently in typical activities in this field of competency.

1. Plan and complete your work schedule.

  1. Prepare workgroup plans that reflect consideration of resources, client needs and workgroup targets.
  2. Prepare and communicate your own work plan. Analyse and incorporate yor work objectives and priorities into your personal schedules and responsibilities.
  3. Identify factors affecting the achievement of work objectives and establish contingencies and incorporate them into work plans.
  4. Manage and monitor the planning, completion, and scheduling of tasks. (Use business technology efficiently and effectively do do so.)

 

2. Monitor your work performance.

  1. Assess yourself and ask for feedback from others on how well you are achieving work objectives.
  2. Evaluate and analyse your personal performance
  3. Evaluate and act on feedback from colleagues and clients in the context of individual and group requirements.
  4. Routinely identify and report on variations in the quality of service and performance according to organisational requirements.

 

3. Co-ordinate professional development (PD).

  1. Using feedback and your organisation’s benchmarks, assess your personal knowledge and skills to determine what you need to learn, your priorities.
  2. Research sources of PD and identify those that suit your needs. Then plan to improve in consultation with colleagues.
  3. Do PD activities to help develop your career.
  4. Store and maintain records and documents of achievements and assessments according to your organization’s requirements.
