CHCPRP001 Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
This unit is about identifying networking and collaboration needs, and developing formal and informal partnerships to improve service delivery and professional practice.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed through:
- Assessor observation on the job
- Supervisor reference (if the assessor is not the supervisor)
- Review of your workplace documents (e.g. written strategy for networking and collaboration for your organization, network emails and meeting notes).
- Interview/assignment based on the requirements below.
Practical
RE CA
You will be assessed in the workplace in situations where you can interact with individuals and organizations. You will need to have suitable facilities, equipment and resources, including information about peak bodies, network groups and web-based network services.
You will need to show that you have:
- Developed a strategy for networking and collaboration for your organization.
- Worked collaboratively with external individuals or groups in at least three different service delivery situations.

- How do resource constraints affect your ability to network?
- Explain your top five principles for communicating in a professional network.

- What are the legal and ethical considerations for collaborative practice, including:
- copyright and intellectual property?
- privacy, confidentiality and disclosure?
- Explain three key principles of networking and collaboration.
- Explain each of these different kinds of networks and collaboration:
- organizational
- individual
- virtual
- formal/informal.
- What are the benefits of networking and collaboration:
- for clients?
- for your organization?
- for you as a worker?
- How should you respond to differences in values between organizations?
- Describe the structure of your industry. How does it affect interrelationships between different organizations, both public and private? (E.g. Relationships will be different between a primarily government-owned industry and a network of scattered private organizations.)
- What are the limitations of your network? That is, what kinds of things can’t it do?
- What kinds of collaboration and partnerships can it foster?
- Describe the power structure in the network. Do some people run it or does everybody in it run it?

- vision and purpose

Detailed requirements
1. Identify your networking and collaboration needs and opportunities.

- Evaluate the ways in which collaboration could improve the performance of individual staff members and your organization.
- Identify organization and individual needs and prioritize them.
- Identify gaps in networks and collaborative practice and what needs to be done to fill them.
2. Develop collaboration strategies.O In

- Gather information about relevant services, organizations and key people and review it.
- Pro-actively initiate relationships with other inter and intra sectoral professionals and organizations.
- Share information and resources, where possible, with other organizations to overcome duplicated services.
- Keep your information current and accessible.
- Define the kind and level of collaboration, and negotiate it with the relevant people. Put the arrangement in writing.
3. Work collaboratively.O In

- Identify opportunities to meet your personal goals, client goals, and the goals of your organization.
- Plan and implement integrated projects and service delivery.
- Liaise with staff from relevant organizations, both formally and informally.
