CHCPRP006 Lead own professional development
This unit is about analysing your own values, goals and professional well-being as part of an ongoing review for sustaining professional effectiveness. It includes the ability to create a self-directed professional development plan that incorporates strategies to enhance the coherence and effectiveness of practice.
This unit applies to professionals or managers who operate with autonomy in roles in the community sector.
How you will be assessed

You will be assessed on the job by:
- Assessor observation
- Supervisor reference (if required)
- Review of your workplace documents (e.g. procedures and assessment reports)
- Interview/assignment based on the requirements below.

You must have:
- Engaged in a structured process of critical analysis and professional reflection that includes:
- evidence-based analysis of your values, goals, current practice and their coherence
- research of current and emerging best practice, trends and skills requirements
- creation of a professional development plan that includes strategies to enhance effectiveness and coherence of practice
- Developed strategies to address at least three different professional practice issues.

- Reflect on your personal values in a professional context.
- Re-confirm your professional goals.
- Evaluate your own values and goals against professional objectives and relevant codes of ethics, using a range of valid evidence.
- Analyse the coherence between your job functions, values and goals.
- Determine strategies to improve coherence and manage areas of conflict.
2. Review the effectiveness of your practice. El 2/PC, RS L Id
- Assess your professional attainments and the skills and knowledge involved.
- Evaluate areas where you could improve your professional practice and required skills and knowledge.
- Research and integrate information about current best practice and likely future needs and trends.
- Determine impacts of practice on yourself and others through self reflection.
- Identify coherence between professional practice, values, achievement of goals and work outcomes.
- Create a plan and put it into practice to develop required skills, knowledge and coherence.

- Evaluate requirements to maintain your professional well being in the context of individual practice.
- Develop strategies to maintain your professional well being.
- Pro-actively identify options and ask for support, where necessary, to maintain your professional well being.
