This unit is about maintaining creative arts industry knowledge, and monitoring and managing your professional practice. It applies to individuals with advanced skills working as practitioners, administrators, or managers.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed through:
- Assessor observation on the job
- Supervisor reference (if the assessor is not the supervisor)
- Review of your workplace documents (e.g. procedures)
- Interview/assignment based on the requirements below.
Practical
You will be assessed in the workplace as a safe environment. You must demonstrate consistent performance of typical activities in the creative arts industry. You will need access to current creative arts industry information sources and materials, and appropriate technology.
You need to show that you have:
- Researched, analyzed and applied current and reliable industry information
- Documented detailed industry information and its sources
- Recorded networking activities used to maintain and enhance industry knowledge
- Identified and participated in professional development activities.

- What are your employment opportunities are in your industry sector

Put together a portfolio of current information on your industry sector in the creative arts. It needs to be accurate, comprehensive and detailed and should show:

- current trends
- emerging technologies
- summary of legislation and industry protocols
Your assessor will ask you:
- How accurate, current and credible are your information sources?
- How do you know that your information sources are sufficient to represent the industry sector at present?

1. Research and apply creative arts industry information
- Research the structure and operation of the creative arts industry
- Research the employment obligations and opportunities within the industry
- Monitor the trends and emerging technologies within the industry
- Research the legislation and industry protocols relevant to the industry
- Analyse and evaluate accuracy, currency and credibility of information sources to determine that research scope is sufficient
- Compile and maintain accurate and comprehensive details of information gathered and its sources
2. Maintain effective industry networks
- Participate in professional industry bodies and associations to maintain industry knowledge
- Use networking strategies to establish and maintain relationships that enhance your professional practice and profile
- Use communication channels to maximise dialogue with industry contacts and ensure you keep up to date and credibille knowledge of your industry sector
- Record details of your networking activities and the benefits you gained
3. Enhance professional practice
- Evaluate your skills and knowledge to identify professional development needs
- Ask for advice from relevant people to identify professional development opportunities
- Participate in professional development activities to improve work performance and currency of industry knowledge
