Susan would like some help to redesign the room. She would like the room to have a relaxed, flexible atmosphere where the children can explore and play safely.

We will have to think about all aspects of the room. Susan has to clean the room after the children leave each day, so we will need to make sure she has all the equipment she needs for this.

There is one thing worth keeping in mind. You will often find that young children do not react well to change. Small changes may upset them, as they become used to routines and room layouts.

It can be a good idea to let children know if you are planning to change things in their room, or to gradually change things while they are present so they can be part of the change and accept that things are different. Children need time to explore, experiment and master the materials.
