Identify and respond
Identify and respond to children and young people at risk of harm describes the knowledge and skills required to work ethically in a children’s services environment, whilst applying relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Children’s services professionals must:
- be able to observe signs and symptoms of children and young people at risk of harm
- be able to implement practices to protect children
- comply with lawful instructions, regulations and duty of care in all work activities
- maintain confidentiality at all times
- accurately record relevant circumstances in relation to risk of harm according to organisation procedures, ethics and legal requirements
- report risk of harm indicators
- protect the rights of the children and young people in the service.
