Welcome!

Hi I'm Amanda. I'll help answer your questions   ...

Who is this course for? This course is for people who are learning how to volunteer in a community organization to support older people in the community.

You can do it as part of your job in a real work position. You will probably find it helpful to have an on-job mentor if you don't already have one.

Timeframe. You should check with your instructor. The timeframe will depend on how much time you invest each week and the electives offered.

What units?

  1. CHCADMIN201D Undertake basic administrative duties
  2. CHCCOM201C Communicate with people accessing the services of the organization
  3. CHCORG202C Work with others
  4. CHCVOL201B Be an effective volunteer
  5. HLTWHS200A Participate in WHS processes

  7. Provide support to meet personal care needs CHCICS301B
  8. Support older people to maintain their independence CHCAC317A
  9. Support individual health and emotional well being CHCICS303A

You can take units through several other ways:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning, that is, through assessment of what you have done and learnt on the job. The assessment is mostly the same. You can use existing documentation.
  • Transfer credit.
  • A combination of the above.
