Legislation, policies and practices
Working within a relevant legal and ethical framework covers a great range of issues. As a child care worker you must:
- provide protection for all children
- follow lawful instructions and regulations for the care of children, including government legislation and court orders as they relate to individual children
- follow the policies and procedures of your service or centre
- maintain confidentiality within the requirements of the Privacy Act in relation to parents, children and co-workers
- carry out the required reporting requirements according to your state's legislation
- provide accurate recording of relevant information according to your service's policies and procedures.
