Harassment
Policy Statement
Cybertots Child Care Centre believes that harassment is defined as any offensive action or remark concerning a person's race, colour, language, ethnicity, political or religious convictions, gender, pregnancy, marital status, impairment or health and which interferes with the work effectiveness of co-workers and the alleged harasser.
Considerations:
- Philosophy - Everyone associated with the centre has the right to be free from any form of harassment
- Legislation - Federal and State Equal Opportunity Legislation
- Children's needs - To be free from any form of harassment
- Parents Needs - To feel that they and their families will be free from any form of harassment
- Staff Needs - To feel free from any form of harassment
- Management Need - to have and promote a working, caring environment that is free from any form of harassment.
How Policy will be implemented (Specific Policies and Procedures):
If the harassment causes any of the following, action may be undertaken:
- creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment
- adversely affects an individual's prospects for employment or promotion
- causes any employee undue embarrassment or distress
- adversely affects an individual's work performance
- results in resignation or unfair dismissal
- affects the integrity and standing of the centre.
The action taken should be as referred to in "Grievance Procedures: Staff"
